City Prepares Kota Tua as World Heritage

Jakarta Tourism and Culture Dept. (Disparbud) is preparing Kota Tua to be proposed as world heritage. On last Monday (9/18), assessment team from International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) has been arrived to survey Kota Tua.

"Yesterday, they came to visit Kota Tua. Later, we must listen to their comments about preparation to propose Kota Tua as world heritage," said Tinia Budiarti, Head of Jakarta Disparbud, Tuesday (9/19).
W. Jakarta will Hold Kota Tua Night TourAccording to her, there are many requirements needed to make Kota Tua as world heritage,. Besides, the related stakeholders are needed to be involved in Kota Tua area.
"There are many requirements that need to be fulfilled and it involves many stakeholders," she mentioned.
She explained, within these years, her side and related institutions conducted restoration for several public spaces, museums, and arranged street vendors (PKL) in Kota Tua area. Several BUMNs were also involved in building restoration process.
"They come to see its shortage and we surely needs time to repair it. Maybe it takes time to three years ahead," she closed.
